We need time to relax for thoughts and feelings to flow, after all this isn't a number crunch its about expression. If we feel rushed it's a good time to pause and collect our thoughts. Often I find it more productive to use time watching or reading tutorials, as I often find much more streamlined ways of doing things.
Planning is an important step that I often overlook in the spirit of getting things done, but I find that more time is wasted when there isn't a definite foundation. Sure we can feel out a scene as we go but there are certain things we need to consider first so that we don't waste time later fixing issues.
Quality is important, having the patience to follow though is key. We should take our time in our creative work, but we shouldn't be lackadaisical. We should continue to work towards completing a project whether we are learning, planing, finding inspiration, or creating. Patience can be found in the love we have for our creation.
I am a little different; however, we come from the same block when it comes to the desire to finish. I rather enjoy figuring out a story, but once i know where i am going, I just feel like double-timing it to get to the end. It becomes a lingering chore for me that really just needs to be finished awith rapidity. Now, I can do that, but it is not for everyone and possibly very dangerous for artwork. You are doing fine with how you operate, and there is no reason why you should do things in a goofy way like I do. :)
ReplyDeleteIndeed everyone operates different, and everyone has different situations. For instance a full-time artist can work on a project 8-12 hours daily, where as I might have as little as an hour to work on a project after work. I have to be sure that any amount of time spent is not rushed and plans are made so that the little time I have is not wasted correcting oversights.
DeleteIf you fail to plan, plan to fail. Patience is required in any worthwhile endeavor. Progress is being made, so long as every step is towards the goal.
