A World With Replicators

Imagine if the technology of our world was up to par with that of Star Trek and our basic needs were taken care of by default. Imagine a world where we didn't have to work for food or shelter and the health and well being of each individual was taken care of by technology. The body would be taken care of so that the mind and spirit may thrive.

What would you do in a world where your motivations were never based on survival? Would you languish in boredom or would you use your talents to create something new? Without the grind of survival inspiration would be the fuel of those who care, the many would become restless without their systems.

In a perfect world it would be easy to find and use your talents but our current world isn't perfect. Despite the world some do create even with the obstacles that were placed in our way, perfect is a motivation but never a state of being. Humanity was give a choice and most chose poorly but fortunately the choice is personal and with the individual.

The world is difficult because of the many but the world still works because of the few. It is within this balance that we may find ourselves so that we may thrive when the many are removed so that the few may make the world anew. This is the endgame, it's up to each and every one of us to decide if we are the few or the many.

  1. Weird! I was thinking about the Holodeck before I read this! How awesome would it be to write novels to be experienced rather than read?!

    1. That would be awesome! The holodeck is a good example of technology that should be.

  2. Totally! "Good" is not a lack of evil. Evil is a lack of gumption. There is no place in the new heaven and the new Earth for people who want to retire. The Devil makes use of idle hands because the hands of a good person are always busy. Those actually "too busy" to create are merely the "fast zombies."

    1. Absolutely! The "fast zombies" are just as much an obstacle as the slow, they keep the machine running. Those with gumption tear the machine down and build something better with the parts.

  3. Those who care make things better just by being here. Their existence is spent helping others and creating wonderful things. Without them, the world would be a dark place indeed.

    1. Yes it would be; a new world where the caring outnumber those who don't is worth fighting for.
