When I hear the term "creative people" I cringe. It's not so much that I have a problem with the phrase itself but instead how it is used. The common phrase is used to describe a select few that somehow were born with the passion and talent to create.
As if there is some sort of special radioactive spider or radiation that endows only a select few with talent at birth. Some even go down a dark path thinking they can cheat the system by using drugs to tap into this hidden creative talent. Some rather not even bother with the notion or become cynical and apathetic.
Humanity is the measure of all things, it is our ability to create. Each and every one of us has the ability to become a "creative person". There is no trick, drug, or outside source that can sudden cause us to cross the threshold into the creative consciousness.
Creativity is something that we are born with, whether we use it or not is the ultimate choice. Find what sparks your inner core, use it to create and you will find what you seek. Start doing something with your talents and you will find we are all creative people at heart.
People often express the desire to create, but do not act on it. Or if they do, then they give up because it is too hard. Those who begin to plow and then stop are not worthy.
ReplyDeleteIndeed, a half hearted attempt does not yield results. To do something with all your heart means to follow through, if done out of love our passion will not allow us to stop.
DeleteHow dare you make light of people wanting to sit on their butts doing...nothing. They're busy... watching OTHER people's shows or playing OTHER people's games or reading OTHER people's books. Hehehe. Those who bask in the creativity of others never know the joy beyond the surface.
ReplyDeleteHaha, yes many rather absorb the work of others and pretend that only a select few have talent. If only more would experience the joy of creating something of their own.
